Edgy Glamour meets Futuristic Chic!!
Kickstarting the Lakme Fashion Week at Mehboob studio, ace Indian designer Manish Malhotra showed off his panoramic summer bridal collection.
In a studio hangar festooned with origami paper birds and pinwheels, designer to the stars, Manish Malhotra, opened Lakme Fashion Week Summer-Resort 2016 with a collection that was distinctly soft and summery, and unabashedly bridal. “Elements”, inspired by earth, water, wind and flame, saw 70 ensembles walk the ramp, covering every conceivable silhouette that a summer bride could aspire for.
There were lehengas, saris, gowns and ghararas to cocktail dresses, ponchos and off-shoulder jumpsuits, a total collection for the bridal party.
There were varied summer colours ranging from blush pink, nude, grey and mint green to powder blue and sunset orange. It was quite a deviation from the navy value and deep hues of red, adorned with sequins, often used by the designer.
Malhotra knows his market all too well and he was truly in his element with the organza, tussar, crepe creations, embellished with tone-on-tone thread embroidery, smattering of salli sequins and delicate sequin flowers, displaying far more mastery and confidence than he did with his recently-launched textile-heavy “The Regal Threads” collection.
Like the international designers, Malhotra followed suit with providing for a beautiful runway adorned with tiny birds moving overhead and models walking in parallel rows in unison, it was impossible to not be left stunned by the heavenly vibe the runway gave.He also almost provide everyone with a front row view, like the Chanel show, adorned with the Bollywood industry bigwigs.
This collection was a huge shift from the Regal Threads collection. It was all about subtlety and elegance, with the same pomp and glamour.
Manish Malhotra has lived up to be one of the best acts of Lakme Fashion Week. He is the best combination of elegance and glamour.
